stick shift sweetheart
yeah, how dorky… this song is dedicated to my Subaru WRX. 227 hp @ 6000 rpm… 4wd, turbo what’s not to love?
I loves my stick shift sweetheart (mp3).

this song is called broken window knee scar.
Played a live show exactly 10 years ago at the Tiger Bar. Got a ride from my friend. We were going to stop by her place for a night cap before I went home.
We got to the front porch, and she couldn’t find her keys. “I’ll break the window”, I suggested. I kicked in the window next to the door, cutting my knee deeply. I bled like a mother fucker.
I don’t know how much blood I lost. We went upstairs, had a drink, I said I was sleepy and passed out. I woke up in a panic at 5am, thinking MY WIFE IS GONNA KILL ME!
I puked my guts out, called a cab, and stumbled home. My wife was up, expecting the worst.
I drove by that house the other day, not that my friend still lives there. The memory ached in my knee. Crazy shit.
No commentsback from the dead
It’s been five years since I last had it, but I’m now officially recovered from the flu.
A week of misery. Lucky that I can telecommute, I was able to crawl out of bed for an hour or two at a time to sign in and get some work done. Being a contractor, if I don’t work, I don’t get paid. No sick leave, no vacation.
I had a lot of downtime last week. I used my iPod touch to watch the bulk of Toppa Tengen Gurren Lagann on YouTube, even if I did have to watch maybe 10 of the 27 episodes with Spanish subtitles.
I finished two books, Don DeLillo’s Underworld and Cosmopolis. It took me 3 or 4 weeks to finish Underworld, one of the LONGEST damn books I’ve read. Too long. I’ve only read three, working on a fourth, but his books are kind of pointless. Is that the right word? But sentence by sentence, he’s such a damn good writer.
Also, watched Season 3 of Deadwood. It was decent, but an unsatisfying way to end the series. I’ll keep my hopes up that HBO finishes it properly at some point.
Didn’t do much else, had no energy except for passive entertainment.
Also noticing how little I ate for one week, my stomach seems to have shrunken. I can now only eat 2/3 the portion I was able to eat before getting the flu. That may be a good thing, I’ve put on some winter fat I’m not too happy about. I walk by the scale at the gym. I’m curious, but I don’t want to know. My guess is 160 lbs, which would be a record I’m not looking forward to.
Hope you’re all well out there in intarweb land.

Another bass guitar and drums track, this time with a little extra noise.
“Hosford rides again”
these, by the way, are just practice tracks. they’re not meant to be one thing or another, just recording stuff while I’m learning to play the bass and drums, so that I have a record of my progress.
I’ve near-blistered the pointer finger on my fretting hand, though that may be just what I need to get those callouses I need. The pinky/ring-finger muscles on that hand are developing quite nicely, too; in short order, I’ll be able to administer the PINKY FINGER OF DOOM.
In other music-related areas, the black-metal AOM project I’ve been helping Des with is nearly wrapped up. There’s talk of getting a 7″ vinyl pressed, with some dope printing on the jacket. It will only be 2 of the tracks, the other 3 will be available for download at some point.

I was sorting around my iTunes library to see what I had in the way of female vocalists, and while I was at it, threw some tracks into Traktor.
It’s kind of all over the place, threw in a couple silly tracks.
